The DVSA has told professional drivers to consider how they speak to roadside examiners. Writing via Twitter, the DVSA explained that it was offering the advice after a driver was abusive towards a member of staff.
On the Twitter post, published earlier today, the DVSA wrote:
“Professional drivers, please consider how you speak with our roadside examiners. Most drivers are courteous. But we recently suspended a driver for being abusive to staff at a vehicle check in Leatherhead. The Traffic Commissioner banned him from driving for 35 days.”
The DVSA offered no further comment on what it meant by “being abusive”. The reference about speech nonetheless suggests that the abuse was of a verbal nature.
