The A64, a key road connecting Leeds and York, experienced overnight closure last night due to a lorry fire near Tadcaster. The incident led to the closure of both carriageways between the A1(M) junction and the A162. Emergency crews implemented diversions, and images from National Highways revealed the lorry was loaded with beer kegs.
While the eastbound carriageway reopened at 11:30 pm on Wednesday (7th December), the full reopening of the road occurred later, after 5 am. The closure and subsequent reopening were essential for managing the aftermath of the lorry fire and ensuring the safety of commuters in the affected area.
