Bosch has introduced its industry-leading Secure Truck Parking platform in the UK, starting with the Red Lion Truckstop in Northampton. This platform offers a reservation system for secure truck parking spaces, along with security systems and software for parking areas and operators.
The need for secure parking solutions is underscored by data showing that freight crime cost the UK economy over £420 million in 2021. The launch of Bosch’s platform aims to address this challenge by providing drivers with access to high-security parking spots in real-time, thereby reducing the risk of cargo theft.
The Red Lion Truckstop is the inaugural location to benefit from Bosch’s system. Utilizing a centralized booking system, the Red Lion team can manage reservations across multiple platforms, ensuring drivers have guaranteed parking and providing accurate data on arrival and departure times. Additionally, the platform coordinates monthly billing directly with transport companies, streamlining payment processes.
Bosch’s Secure Truck Parking platform has been successfully operating in mainland Europe since 2015, delivering increased security and supply chain compliance while reducing costs by up to 40%. Andrew Hayward, Bosch UK lead for Secure Truck Parking, highlighted the importance of addressing the challenges of finding secure parking in the industry.
Zarfeen Jetha, owner of The Red Lion Truck Stop, expressed satisfaction with the partnership with Bosch, emphasizing the tailor-made system’s effectiveness in meeting their needs. The Red Lion, recently voted Europe’s Best Truck Stop, combines Bosch’s platform with additional security measures such as 24-hour patrols, CCTV surveillance, and perimeter protection, ensuring a safe environment for drivers.
