“I was absolutely ballistic” says the Cheshire man who saw his parked car being hauled by the lorry driver.
A business owner from Crewe said he went ‘ballistic’ as a truck driver caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to his car by towing it while it was parked.
The shocking incident was captured on camera, showing a truck driver tie a rope to his car and drag it along Gateway where he had parked it.
Steve Brown, manager of a security company based at the Crewe Gates Industrial Estate, said he watched on in horror as the truck driver caused damage to his car on Thursday (October 21).
Steve said truck drivers have been ‘dumping’ trailers in and around the industrial estate where he works and coming back to collect them another day.
He said his car was parked up legally in front of a trailer when the trucker took it upon himself to move his car. Steve saw everything unfold, recorded a video of the incident and confronted the driver.
“I was absolutely ballistic, I just thought ‘I don’t believe this’ I was screaming at him,” Steve said.
“I park my car opposite Peugeot on Gateway.
“My car was parked in front his trailer and he decided he was going to put a massive rope and hook and drag my car away from his trailer which had been there for two weeks.
“It’s what they do. Another business owner has reported them to the council and they’ve done nothing.”
Steve said that when he confronted the driver, the driver told Steve that he used to be a recovery driver and there would be no damage to his car.
“I said ‘what do you mean there’s no damage?’. He pulled up in a heavy goods truck and put a massive rope and hook around my car and dragged it in gear.
“He dragged it about 10 feet. It’s bent my steering arm and messed up my gear stick.”
Steve also said that the whole incident was seen by a police officer who was conducting a traffic stop nearby.
Cheshire Police have been approached for comment.
“He did that in front of a traffic cop, I’m surprised they did nothing,” Steve added.
“The police had pulled a car over at the back of the trailer.
“While they were dealing with the driver they pulled over, that idiot in a truck comes along and drags the car out in front of the police.”
Steve says repairs to his Fiat panda will now cost around £500 and that he has been liaising with Americold – the company which owns the truck firm Agro Merchants.
Americold and Cheshire East Council have also been approached for comment.
Only a Dickhead would be driving a Panda Now trying to make a big deal out of nothing.
You know the answer, don’t be dumb enough to park directly in front of an uncoupled trailer, and this would have never have need to happen. Plus I wouldn’t admit to having a Fiat Panda!

If you see it all unfold why didn’t you just approach the driver and offer to move your car and save yourself all the hassle. Driving a truck for a living is hard enough without having to deal with idiots who decide to park a car in front of a dropped trailer. If a driver parks a trailer on a roadside it’s usually because he’s been instructed to do so by his employers and most likely parked it when there were no other vehicles around.
