Officers from Leicestershire Roads Policing Unit (RPU) have arrested a lorry driver after he hit a bridge and lost his skip (and half of his cab) but carried on driving.
The impact with the bridge was so hard that the roof of the cab almost completely disintegrated upon impact.
The skip that the vehicle was carrying was also dislodged from the back of the lorry and ended up in the road where the driver left it.
Rather than calling the emergency services, the driver decided to carry on with his journey until the police caught up with him.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Roads Policing Unit (RPU) said:
‘Officers from RPU found this earlier after it had struck a bridge.
‘Unbelievably, the driver continued driving, having left the skip in the middle of the road.
‘One arrested’.
There are no reports of any injuries.
