DVLA: Temporary medical report relaxation to end
The DVLA has released the latest dates for applications it is working on while high volumes of enquiries about applications continues – and also signposted the end of the D4 medical report relaxation.
Temporary D4 relaxation ending
The temporary scheme that allows lorry and bus drivers to renew their licence at 45+ without a D4 medical report will end on 24 March 2022. From that date, lorry and bus drivers will need to follow the normal licence renewal process without exception, it said.
Any licence renewal applications received without the D4 after this date will be rejected by the DVLA and the application will need to be resubmitted, it said.
High volume of enquiries
The Agency also said it was still receiving a high volume of enquiries about driving while your driving licence application is with DVLA.
There are also ongoing delays with driving licence applications where further information is needed from doctors. The Department of Health and Social Care asked the Agency to pause referring cases to allow the NHS to focus on the vaccine programme. While it is now able to resume referrals to doctors there are still delays in obtaining the information needed, it said – and it is continuing to prioritise applications for bus and lorry driving licences.
