**Update from DVSA: Stoneridge SE5000 Tachograph Error**
Some Stoneridge SE5000 transitional smart 2 tachograph devices are experiencing an error where the message ‘Hardware sabotage’ is displayed on the screen and recorded in the tachograph.
Impact on Tachograph Devices:
Stoneridge has assured us that this error does not affect the functionality of the tachograph. It will continue to operate correctly despite displaying the message. Vehicle operators can still use vehicles equipped with these tachographs, and DVSA examiners can verify their proper functioning. No action is required when this issue is identified in isolation.
Stoneridge will release details of any corrective measures once available.
If a driver encounters this error message, we advise them to take a manual printout to present at a roadside stop if necessary.
Traveling Internationally:
We are unable to provide guidance on how other enforcement agencies will address this issue at this time.

This Hardware sabotage will count as an infringement and stay on a drivers record for one year. This could affect the driver’s employment prospects and prospective future employment could be refused with no explanation offered nor any chance of mitigation on behalf of the driver. This side of the issue is not being discussed as it’s seen as not important. “Stonebridge says that the tacho will still work” So basically, business as usual and screw those who will feel the most negative impact of this fault!
