Haulage prices increased significantly year-on-year in November 2024, while courier rates remained mostly unchanged, according to the latest TEG Road Transport Index.

📊 Key Findings:

  • Haulage price index rose 10.4 points compared to November 2023, with a minor 0.32% month-on-month increase to 125.8.
  • Courier prices dipped slightly, falling 0.39% to 127.3 over the year.

The overall TEG Index recorded a modest 0.08% month-on-month decline, yet remained 4.4 points higher than the same time last year.

📈 Trends and Insights:
The report noted stable prices across both sectors, reflecting steady demand, while fuel costs rose slightly in November. However, consumer confidence could drive a strong finish to the year, with FedEx forecasting a busy December.

🛍️ Seasonal Factors:
Kirsten Tisdale of Aricia highlighted the influence of Black Friday, which fell later in November this year, alongside geopolitical and economic events affecting logistics activity.

Despite the challenges, stable indices suggest resilience in the UK transport sector.
