A kind-hearted lorry driver was seen coming to the aid of two people struggling in traffic during one of the hottest days on record.
Earlier this month, the UK basked in a July heatwave as temperatures reached record highs. A red weather warning was put in place by the Met Office as people were warned to ” stay indoors and do as little as possible.”
On July 18, motorists found themselves stuck in traffic following reports of an accident on the A14. A kind-hearted lorry driver saw two people struggling in the heat, waiting in traffic, and stepped in to help.
Taking to a local Prescot Facebook page, one woman, on behalf of her friend, wrote her thanks in the hope of finding the driver involved to thank him for his kindness. The driver used his vehicle as “shade” for two hours until the accident had cleared.
The post reads: “I have a request for my UK based friends on behalf of my dad. He is trying to contact a driver to thank him for his help. Monday 18/07 on the A14, Cambridge Services, my folks were stuck in traffic after a nasty accident ahead.
“They were in an Austin Healey with no protection from the 40 deg heat. A lorry driver appeared and stayed along side them for 2+ hours, shading them from the sun, even when traffic ahead of him moved away. There were no markings on the side of the truck but dad has the registration – DC21 FBA.
“He’d dearly love to thank this driver for his kindness that day else they’d have been in serious trouble with the heat. If you have any ideas how to help, dad’s sure grateful!”
