Culina Group, WS Group, and AW Jenkinson Group have collaborated to make a substantial purchase of 2,500 trucks from Scania UK.
The Consortium Purchasing group finalized an agreement for 2,250 internal combustion engine trucks, with the majority featuring the 13-litre SUPER drivetrain. Additionally, 100 units of 4×2 battery electric tractor units will be deployed on UK roads, while the remaining 150 trucks will be allocated to the Consortium’s Dutch and German operations.
To ensure smooth operations, each vehicle will come with a three-year full repair and maintenance contract, and some of the trucks will be financed through Scania Financial Services.
Scania AB’s CEO, Christian Levin, expressed enthusiasm about the deal, emphasizing the company’s long-standing and successful relationship with the three groups. This partnership represents a significant milestone in Scania’s journey towards sustainable transport solutions.
William Stobart, the deputy CEO of Culina Group, expressed satisfaction on behalf of the Consortium, appreciating Scania’s support in minimizing global supply issues over the past two years. This gesture signifies the strong partnership between the businesses.
Chris Newitt, the MD for Scania UK, extended gratitude to the Consortium Purchasing board for continuing their fruitful relationship. He praised the collaboration and hard work of those involved in making this deal possible over the years.
Though the battery electric trucks represent a fraction of the total order, it still constitutes one of the most substantial battery-electric vehicle acquisitions to be completed by Scania in Europe within a single calendar year.
The delivery of the vehicles will occur in batches of 500 per quarter, ensuring a steady and efficient deployment process.
