Commuters experienced significant delays on Thursday morning (25/10/23) due to two separate incidents disrupting the M6 motorway.

The first incident occurred around 7:50 am near Junction 7, where a diesel spillage forced the closure of the northbound entry slip road. National Highways reported delays of at least 40 minutes, urging commuters to allow extra time for their journeys. Cleanup efforts were underway to clear the spillage.

The second incident happened between Junction 6 and Junction 5 of the southbound M6, involving a pallet load of fish scattered across the highway. Lane 1 of the southbound road was closed by the Central Motorway Policing Group (CMPG), leading to delays of at least 45 minutes. National Highways confirmed the closure and advised commuters to plan for additional travel time.

By 9:55 am, the fish-related incident was resolved, and all lanes were reopened. However, officials cautioned about minor residual delays as traffic gradually cleared.
