A man has died after being hit by a lorry on the M4 near Cardiff.
The motorway was shut down in both directions for four hours following the incident at 3.45am. A police spokeswoman said it involved a Renault articulated HGV and a male pedestrian on the westbound carriageway between junctions 30 and 32. She added: ‘Sadly the man was declared deceased at scene and his family are being supported by a specially trained liaison officer.’ The incident happened at 3.45am between junctions 30 and 32 near Cardiff.
The motorway remains closed westbound, but the eastbound carriageway reopened earlier this morning. The spokeswoman added: ‘Officers wish to thank members of the public who assisted at scene and for their patience during the road closures.’ Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle or pedestrian before the collision is urged to contact police on 101.
