Rohail Hussain, aged 28 and from Alum Rock, caused over £5,000 damage to the HGV during attack in Garretts Green Lane.
A lorry driver was forced to flee his vehicle after his cab was attacked by a road rage thug with a wheel brace.
Rohail Hussain caused more than £5,000 damage to the HGV which he had accused of cutting up his partner’s vehicle in Yardley.
The 28-year-old, of Alderton Road, Alum Rock, was jailed for 14 months after he previously admitted making threats with an offensive weapon and criminal damage.
Birmingham Crown Court heard the victim had been driving his lorry along Garretts Green Lane on May 5 last year.
There was an incident at a roundabout when he cut in front of an Audi, which then pulled up in front of him.
Hussain got out of the vehicle brandishing the wheel brace and started threatening the lorry driver, who was apologising.
He then smashed the front windscreen and a side window of the cab, as well as using the brace to damage the bodywork.
Richard Franck, prosecuting, said “The driver made good his escape.
“He went on to say that he was very frightened by what happened.
“He tried to apologise to the defendant but the defendant was clearly very angry.
“He was frightened he would cause him injury and do more damage if he stayed in his vehicle.”
In passing sentence Judge Sarah Buckingham said “The driver of the lorry carried out a manoeuvre at a mini round about.
“You were affected by his driving and immediately responded by pulling up in front of the lorry.
“You retrieved that item from the vehicle, approached the lorry driver. Your response was not to accept the apology but to attack the lorry.
“I have had the opportunity to view the footage and have witnessed the level of aggression demonstrated by you.
“The matter is aggravated by you previous convictions and you caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.”
Simon Williams, defending, said Hussain was remorseful and ashamed.
“In the last six months his life style has changed,” he said.
“He has changed his circle of friends and has become more family orientated.”
