An articulated Tesco delivery lorry driver turned down a side street in Montpelier in Bristol this morning and is still there.
The lorry driver found his lorry in Upper Cheltenham Place in Montpelier, and then turned right down Brook Hill – where the lorry has become very much stuck.
Local residents said the lorry driver arrived at just after 6am this morning, and has been there ever since.
Police have arrived and the roads in the area are blocked – by the lorry – and now some kind of operation will have to be mounted to extract the lorry from the narrow streets of BS6.
What was a massive lorry like that doing there?
You may well ask.
Residents have been complaining that these narrow residential streets in Montpelier have long been a rat-run, but it seems that this has been made worse by the temporary closure of Ashley Road, the main road from Stokes Croft, through St Pauls to the M32 junction, because of roadworks
Drivers use that road to cut across from Gloucester Road to the M32 at Easton, but with it closed, clearly this driver was attempting a short-cut.

So the lorry is wedged on the corner of number 70 Upper Cheltenham Place as it turns into Brook Road.
We’re in Montpelier here – the Star and Garter is just around the corner and junction 3 of the M32, the turn off for St Pauls and Easton is at the bottom of the hill, but it must feel so far away for this driver now…
What’s happened here then?
This morning, this lorry driver left Avonmouth with a full load of groceries to be delivered to Tesco supermarkets around the Bristol area.
The driver found himself driving along Upper Cheltenham Place at around 7am, and decided to turn right down Brook Hill.
And that’s where he remains.
One local resident said: “It’s been there since 7am. I spoke to the police at the scene, they said they are awaiting recovery.
“I should imagine it’s going to be quite a while before it’s moved as it was a real head scratcher. ”
