Flashback to December 2021 when a passenger plane faced grounding following an apparent collision with an airport lorry during fuel and supply loading.

Witnesses recounted the vehicle crashing into the wing of a LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 737, with images suggesting significant damage to part of the wing tip.

The lorry, bearing Menzies Aviation branding, which offers various services to airlines, was involved in the incident.

Emergency responders and airport personnel promptly arrived at the scene, though fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Consequently, the airline had to cancel the flight to Warsaw, Poland, and other flights experienced delays.

An eyewitness aboard an adjacent plane detailed the crash in a Facebook post, noting the involvement of a truck responsible for loading passenger food.

The collision appeared to have impacted the plane’s Split Scimitar winglet, a modern wing design aimed at enhancing fuel efficiency by minimizing drag.
