Recovery attempts today failed, it’s been confirmed
A lorry which got stuck in a popular Truro rat run will be there for more than 24 hours after attempts to recover it failed.
It had been previously reported by traffic reporting site Inrix that the lorry, which was stuck in Treliske Lane, had been recovered. However, it’s now been confirmed that’s not the case.
It is understood that the recovery attempts will resume at 7.30am tomorrow (Wednesday, January 13).
The lorry became stuck on the road near Truro Golf Club at 8:10am today while attempting a delivery to the area.
Jenia Geraghty wrote in an update on Facebook: “They’ve given up recovery for the evening and the road is still blocked. Starting again tomorrow morning”, after previously writing, “Good folk of Truro and beyond, avoid Treliske Lane and the back roads around New Mills for a few hours. Yes, that’s my arena surface delivery got very lost and yes he’s really stuck. Police on the scene to reverse him back about a mile. Slow and painful with bits of truck flying off.”

She had also reported as darkness set in at 4.45pm that the recovery was still in progress before later confirming that efforts would be abandoned for the night.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the lorry had been stuck since early in the morning. A spokesperson said: “Police received a report at around 8.10am that a lorry had become stuck in Treliske Lane, close to the A390 junction, Truro, due to a tree protruding from the hedge into the road.
“The matter was left in the hands of the highways authority which closed the road while recovery of the lorry was arranged.”
