A trucker has persuaded Bradford and Keighley magistrates not to ban him from driving because the truck he is living in would be taken back by his employer making him homeless.

The man aged 49 from the Kirklees area was convicted of failing to give information re-lating to the driver of a vehicle alleged to be guilty of an offence in Bradford on February 23.

The Bench decided not to disqualify him under the totting procedure after hearing that he has been a heavy goods vehicle driver for 15 years but is currently homeless and living in his truck.

The court heard that if he lost his licence he would lose his job and be unable to sleep in the truck as it would be taken back by his employer.

He would no longer be able to afford his bills or provide support to his elderly mother.
