A serious accident occurred when a truck broke down in an active lane on a dual carriageway, resulting in life-threatening injuries to the driver. The incident occurred on the eastbound side of the A180, between Barnetby Top and Immingham, North Lincolnshire, around 4.50 pm on Thursday.

Reports indicate that another heavy goods vehicle collided with the stationary truck, leading to severe consequences for the driver of the broken down vehicle. The injured driver was promptly rushed to the hospital to receive medical attention for the life-threatening injuries sustained during the crash.

Additionally, the driver of the second lorry was also taken to the hospital, although fortunately, his injuries are not considered to be serious.

Due to the severity of the accident, authorities initiated a “complex recovery and clear-up operation,” leading to the closure of the road. However, National Highways managed to complete the operation successfully, and the road was reopened shortly before 9 am on Friday.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Humberside Police are requesting any witnesses to come forward to provide essential information about the incident. Their cooperation could be crucial in understanding the circumstances that led to the collision and ensuring accountability.

Let’s all keep those involved in our thoughts and hope for their speedy recovery.
