All lanes finally reopened just after 3am onJanuary 11th 2023.

All traffic along the M3 was at one point stopped on Tuesday (January 10) following a multi-vehicle crash that led to disruption into the early hours of this morning. The collision, which reportedly took place near Fleet, involved three cars and two lorries, with an oil spill also occurring as a result.
Both Hampshire Police and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) attended the scene along the M3. Fleet Fire Station on Facebook claims that one of the lorries involved, travelling northbound, slid across and through the central reservation.
It subsequently “catapulted” two of the cars it was carrying into southbound traffic, including one of the cars under another lorry. While only minor injuries were reported to the drivers involved, a full southbound closure between J5 (Hook) and J4A (Farnborough) along the M3 was imposed to allow emergency services to clear the large amount of debris (pictured) left behind.
This closure was imposed just after 3pm, according to National Highways, with one lane also being closed northbound. It came after all traffic was briefly held in both directions following the incident.
It wasn’t until 3am this morning (January 11) that National Highways confirmed all lanes had reopened in both directions.
Here is the full statement from Fleet Fire Station on Facebook: “We’re sure many of you were stuck on the M3 today. Just before 2pm, along with Hartley Wintney Fire Station and Rushmoor Fire Station we attended a complex incident involving a jackknifed HGV carrying several Teslas.
“The HGV transporter was travelling north, slid across and through the central reservation barrier, catapulting 2 Teslas into south bound traffic, one Tesla under another HGV. Luckily there were only minor injuries from the 3 drivers involved. Very lucky for all involved.”

Hampshire Police had this to say on Tuesday: “We were called at 1.40pm today (10 January) to reports of a road traffic collision on the M3 southbound near Fleet. This involved two lorries and three cars. Minor injuries have been reported.”
