A major emergency operation is taking place this afternoon (3rd November 2022) after a lorry was left overhanging a bridge over the M25.
Drivers have been warned to expect long delays on the motorway clockwise, near Junction 2 in Kent, following the incident.
Pictures from the scene show how a lorry jack-knifed across the road and smashed through a barrier, leaving its middle wheels dangling precariously over the side.
There are delays of up to an hour, according to Highways England, and the incident has caused “significant damage” to the barrier.
“Road will remain closed for some time. Please allow extra time for your journey and consider alternate routes.”
KentLive is reporting that police confirmed the incident resulted “in part of the lorry’s trailer breaching a safety barrier”.
A police spokesperson also said that no serious injuries had been reported.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and, where possible, consider using an alternative route. The M25 is also closed at anticlockwise at Junction 2.
