Alarm was raised by colleagues who saw the lorry on fire in Evesham Road near Tewkesbury.
An investigation is underway after a HGV driver was found dead in his cab. It is believed that fellow drivers raised the alarm after spotting flames coming from a parked lorry in the early hours of the morning.
HGV driver Martin Walsh was found dead in the cab of his lorry and an investigation launched. Both police and the Health and Safety Executive are probing the death of the 49-year-old from Cheltenham who worked for William Gilders.
It is believed he and other drivers were sleeping or resting in their cabs before an early shift. Police say his death is currently being treated as unexplained.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “Police were called around 1.30am on Thursday, March 16 with a report a HGV was on fire on Evesham Road, near to the Teddington Hands roundabout near Tewkesbury.
“Emergency services attended and a man aged in his 40s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been informed. “The death is being treated as unexplained and a police investigation is ongoing to establish what took place, and officers are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive.”
