Despite concerns over potential crime and disorder, Bardon Truck Park in Coalville, Leicestershire, has obtained permission to sell alcohol.
The application, aimed at competing with similar businesses, faced opposition from parish councillors who highlighted worries about drink-driving. However, North West Leicestershire District Council approved the license, acknowledging the lack of evidence linking alcohol sales to increased crime.
Conditions for the license include providing extra training for truck park staff on alcohol sales and making CCTV footage available to the police and council upon request.
