Severe traffic disruption at the Port of Dover has resulted in advice being provided by the Department for Transport to haulage drivers.

It said that drivers need to follow all the signs to join Brock M20 at Junction 8 and avoid attempting to use other routes.
Enforcement will be in operation and fines may be applied to those not complying with the correct route.
In preparation for potential delays, drivers planning to use the Short Straits are advised to take their rest stops at service stations before reaching Kent.
Also they should ensure they have a sufficient supply of refreshments including food and water, and any medication they may need.
The DfT also said that regular updates are provided on the National Highways social accounts – and that information should be checked there.

The DfT said it understood that members “will have been caught up in queues for prolonged periods and completely understand the frustrations of HGV drivers and hauliers in response to the delays encountered”.
