Police have initiated a murder inquiry following the death of a 23-year-old man in Shrewsbury.

The victim, a DPD driver, was reportedly assaulted by a group wielding bladed and blunt weapons. Witnesses from the quiet area of Berwick Avenue, Coton Hill, expressed their shock over the incident.

Authorities have arrested four men, aged 22 to 26, on suspicion of murder and confirmed that no firearms were involved. The attack appears targeted, with the assailants ambushing the victim as he exited his delivery van. Police have bolstered patrols and are seeking information about a white Mercedes Benz and a grey Audi linked to the incident. Anyone with details is urged to contact the authorities.

A sixth individual has been apprehended in connection with the murder of a DPD delivery driver.

Aurman Singh tragically lost his life when he was assaulted during his work on Berwick Avenue in Coton Hill, Shrewsbury, on August 21.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in Peterborough on Thursday, under suspicion of murder, and is currently in police custody.

On Wednesday, four men charged with the murder of Mr. Singh appeared before Wolverhampton Crown Court and were remanded in custody.

Additionally, another individual who was arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender has been released on bail.

DPD, the parcel delivery company, confirmed that Mr. Singh, aged 23 and hailing from Smethwick, was a member of a two-person delivery team working for the company.

In a heartfelt statement, Mr. Singh’s family expressed their profound sorrow, noting that there are no words that can adequately convey the impact of this tragic loss.
