Two dedicated truck enthusiasts from China, Liu Weitao and Guo Longxian, embarked on an impressive 13,000 km journey from Shanghai to Sweden in their V8 Scania S650 truck. Their adventure was driven by their passion for the truck culture, leading them to participate in the Truckstar Festival in the Netherlands. At the festival, they proudly displayed their Scania truck adorned with a captivating Transformer character design. Liu Weitao shared their motivation, expressing a desire to absorb the festival’s vibrant atmosphere and bring that enthusiasm back to China.
In the past, trucks in China were primarily seen as utilitarian vehicles for transporting goods, lacking any cultural significance. However, this perception has been gradually shifting as a result of the evolving truck culture. Scania, a brand at the forefront of this movement, has played a pivotal role in shaping this change. Truck drivers in China have started forming meaningful connections with their vehicles, understanding their trucks as essential tools for their livelihoods. This newfound bond has led to personal touches, care, and responsible driving practices. Liu mentioned the comfort of the Scania truck’s spacious cab during their journey, praising its reliability throughout the 13,000 km trek.
Undertaking such a lengthy voyage demands trust in the vehicle’s capabilities, relying on it to deliver a trouble-free journey. Liu’s confidence in Scania’s quality was evident as he confidently traversed continents. Upon reaching Sweden, the pair made a noteworthy stop at the Svempas workshop, which is renowned for customizing and modifying Scania trucks. This workshop, led by Sven-Erik Bergendahl, gained fame after its Svempa 999 cab stole the spotlight at the Shanghai Automotive Show in 2011.
