The untimely demise of a man from Bournemouth in a devastating collision has left his family in deep sorrow. Remembered as a “loving partner, doting father, beloved brother, son, uncle, and grand uncle,” the cherished memories of Livai Boila will forever remain etched in their hearts.
In the early hours of Thursday, June 5, a white HGV emerged from the Red Funnel Ferry terminal and tragically collided with a set of traffic lights on the A33 Herbert Walker Avenue at approximately 5:45 am.

Despite the valiant efforts of both emergency services and compassionate members of the public who halted to assist, Livai Boila, a 40-year-old man from Bournemouth, succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
In paying tribute to their beloved family member, his relatives shared heartfelt sentiments: “Livai was an adoring partner, devoted father, cherished brother, loving son, and a beloved uncle and grand uncle to his extended family in Fiji and the UK. He possessed a jovial personality, radiating life at every gathering with his infectious smile, unwavering sense of humor, and a knack for spreading joy from ear to ear.
“Livai exemplified the qualities of a diligent and hardworking individual who always strived to give his best in everything he pursued. He was deeply cherished by his extended family and the Fijian diaspora, where he was renowned, as well as by his colleagues at work.
“As a supportive, affectionate, and comforting partner, Livai was the epitome of an unwavering pillar of strength, providing the best support system one could ever hope for. He embraced fatherhood with unwavering love and dedication, as his son held an irreplaceable place in his heart. His absence will be profoundly felt and mourned.
