A recovery truck driver has been fined after a Roads Policing Unit spotted his vehicle driving the wrong way on the M25.

The driver of the recovery truck was spotted by the Brentwood exit of London’s orbital motorway as he made his way to a vehicle that had broken down.

But doing a u-turn on the motorway so that you then head into the face of on-coming traffic is exceptionally dangerous.

In a picture shared by EP Roads Policing on Twitter, the truck can be seen facing on-coming traffic after officers stopped it on the white hatched markings.

The driver of the recovery truck was issued with a fixed penalty notice.

A spokesperson for EP Roads Policing tweeted:

‘This recovery driver was found on the @M25Info near #Brentwood and the driver had decided it would be acceptable to turn around to recover another vehicle.

‘Clearly it was not and he has now been issued a fixed penalty notice’.
