A truck driver from West Bromwich, has been banned from driving for two years after being caught driving a Scania lorry on the M5 while more than double the legal drink-drive limit.
Mr Howell, 50, was heading south at Spetchley in Worcestershire on November 8 last year when he was stopped. A breath test revealed he had 93 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the limit of 35mcg.
Howell admitted the charge at Worcester Justice Centre, receiving a two-year driving ban retroactively starting from November 11. He also received a 12-month community order, 15 rehabilitation activity days, an £80 fine, £135 in costs, and a £114 surcharge.
The driving ban can be reduced by 24 weeks if he completes an awareness course by March next year.
