A Suffolk-based haulage company, operating as the Bomfords Group under Lochace Limited, has initiated the administration process by submitting a notice of intention to appoint an administrator.
The filing, made on December 19, encompasses Bomfords’ extensive fleet of 70 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and 140 trailers across three locations, including Speedwell Way in Harleston, Airfield Works in Diss, and another undisclosed site near Beccles and Eye.
In a strategic move in 2020, Bomfords Group, under its parent company Howell Gordon Limited, expanded its operations with the acquisition of Star Transport and Warehousing situated in Brunel Way, Thetford.
A surge in insolvencies has hit British haulage businesses, with a record-breaking number collapsing over the past two years due to the economic fallout.
According to a Freedom of Information report from Price Bailey, 463 haulage businesses went bust in the last 12 months 463 haulage businesses went bust in the last 12 months, more than double the figure from two years ago.
