Four Black Country men have been convicted of murdering a DPD driver in Shrewsbury last year, while a fifth man has been found guilty of manslaughter in the same case.

The verdict was reached by a jury at Stafford Crown Court, concluding a tragic incident that took the life of Aurman Singh, a 23-year-old resident of Topsham Road, Smethwick. Singh was fatally attacked in Berwick Avenue, Coton Hill, on Monday, August 21.

The grim events unfolded when two groups of men, traveling from Smethwick in an Audi and a Mercedes, converged in Shrewsbury with the intent to harm the DPD worker. Singh was subjected to a brutal assault, resulting in his death. The attackers wielded a range of weapons, including an axe, golf club, machete, and cricket bat.

Among those on trial at Stafford Crown Court were four individuals who had arrived in the Audi from the Black Country. Arshdeep Singh, 24, of Shaw Road in Tipton; Shivdeep Singh, 27; Manjot Singh, 25, both residents of Greenfield Road, Smethwick; and Jagdeep Singh, 22, of Goodrich Mews, Dudley, had all pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and manslaughter.

However, the jury unanimously found them guilty of both charges, bringing a measure of justice to the devastating loss of Aurman Singh’s life.
