Police are in pursuit of a trucker transporting an abnormal load that crashed into a lamppost, resulting in the closure of the M6 and damage to multiple vehicles.
The incident occurred at 2 am on Wednesday when the truck, carrying an abnormal load, entered a restricted road works area. It collided with a lamppost, causing it to fall onto the opposing carriageway, impacting several vehicles. The Central Motorway Policing Group (CMPG) closed both carriageways to facilitate the removal of the lamppost.
Authorities are now seeking information from the public as they investigate the incident and attempt to locate the involved vehicle.
A spokesperson emphasized that no injuries were reported and urged individuals with dashcam footage or eyewitness accounts to come forward.
