The new Shacman X6000 800hp has become the world’s most powerful truck beating the Scania 770hp with more than 30hp and 50Nm torque.

The Chinese truck manufacturer enters the highway power fray where Swedish manufacturers, Scania and Volvo have dominated for while and promises to give the seasoned OEMs a run for their money.

Volvo 750hp was introduced into the world in 2011 and ruled as king of the road for 9 years before being dethroned by the Scania 770hp in September 2020.

Less than three years later, we see Shacman introducing the world’s most powerful truck to China.

The new Shacman truck was introduced to the Chinese and Russian market, although there are high expectations that it will be produced in Argentina. The manufacturer is reportedly building a factory in the province of La Rioja later this year to cater for the Latin America market.

The new truck’s cabin looks like the state-of-the-art Actros. Beneath the cab lies a 16.6 litre Weichai WP17H800E68 Euro 6 engine that delivers 800 HP and 3.750 Nm torque.

Chinese Weichai engine

A brief search of Weichai’s website shows us that the company manufactures engines, axles and gearboxes for trucks, agricultural machinery, marine and industrial use.

The Weichai engine 16.6 litres powering the Shacman X6000 meets Euro 6 standards, produces 800 horsepower and 3,750 Nm of torque.

The designation of the engine that equip
the truck starts with W17 and when we searched for more information on the engine we discovered that it corresponds to a series of engines intended for agricultural reefs.

The 16.6 Litre V8 produces between 550hp and 770hp at torques from 2550nm to 3000nm.

Therefore we can conclude that the WP17H800E68 engine used is a modified W17 for use in road and mountain trucks, as they refer to.

Gearbox

The world’s most powerful new truck, also offers a fully-automatic 16-speed S16AD gearbox, developed by Fast Gear, in an exclusive 6×4 setup, designed for demanding road and mountain activities.
