A 28-year-old Macedonian lorry driver, Muhamed Alievski, was sentenced to three years in prison for attempting to smuggle a 22-year-old Albanian man, wanted for breaching a court order related to drug offenses, out of the UK.
National Crime Agency officers arrested Alievski in Ashford, Kent, during an intelligence-led operation on August 5.
Both individuals were taken into custody, and Alievski later pleaded guilty to participating in the activities of a people smuggling organized crime group.
The judge at Canterbury Crown Court issued the three-year sentence on November 10.
NCA senior investigating officer Andrew MacGill emphasized the agency’s commitment to disrupting and dismantling such smuggling networks, urging vigilance within the haulage industry.
